Addressing Global and Regional Education Challenges

The Education sector faces several challenges globally. Some of these challenges are common to all nations, while others are specific to certain countries, showing a strong correlation with national development (UN, 2020). Our mission is to tackle these issues head-on, ensuring equitable access to quality education for all.

Global Education Challenges

Access to quality education, inequity in education, and producing globally relevant citizens are key problems across the world in education today. Around the world, 258 million, or 17 per cent of the world’s children, adolescents, and youth, are out of school. The proportion is much larger in developing countries: 31 per cent in sub-Saharan Africa and 21 per cent in Central Asia, compared to 3 per cent in Europe and North America (UN, 2020).

Contributing Factors

Certain factors such as background, location, poverty, indigeneity, and language exacerbate these challenges (UNESCO, 2020). These issues are particularly pronounced in developing regions, creating significant barriers to education for many children.

Impact of COVID-19

COVID-19 further highlighted the gaps in educational equity and quality (World Bank, 2023). The pandemic disrupted learning for millions, exacerbating existing inequalities and highlighting the urgent need for resilient and inclusive education systems.

Progress and Remaining Challenges

While there have been some improvements, such as steady progress towards gender parity globally over the past 50 years, many challenges remain unaddressed at regional and sub-regional levels (World Bank, 2024). These include disparities that are not immediately obvious on the global landscape but are critical at local levels.

Join us in our mission to overcome these challenges and create a world where every child has access to quality education. Together, we can make a difference.
