imagination and learning

Your child creates the idea. Anansesem turns it into a story that accelerates foundational literacy.

What Anansesem is

Every story teaches.
Every reading session counts.

Anansesem is an AI-powered learning platform that transforms education into personalised, interactive stories for children ages 4-12.

Through culturally relevant narratives, children learn literacy, maths, science, and critical thinking in a way that feels engaging, meaningful, and fun. Every story adapts in real time to a child’s age, reading level, language, and learning needs, creating a unique learning journey for every learner.

  • Turn Any Idea Into a Lesson They'll Love

Every story begins with a real learning goal and transforms into a personalized adventure. In about a minute, Anansesem creates a story, illustrations, and narration designed to help your child learn while staying engaged.

  • Learning Through Stories, Not Around Them

Stories are not a distraction from learning. They are the learning experience.

Anansesem uses storytelling to build literacy, strengthen comprehension, and develop critical thinking through content that feels fun, personal, and meaningful.

  • Built Around Real Learning Objectives

Every story is aligned to a curriculum objective that matches your child's current level.

By adapting to what they have already mastered, Anansesem introduces new concepts at the right time, helping children grow with confidence and consistency.

  • Comprehension That Goes Beyond

Finishing a story is only the beginning.

Questions and activities are woven naturally into each reading experience, helping children demonstrate understanding, strengthen retention, and build critical comprehension skills.

How a story gets made

Your child Imagines It. Tell us what the story should be about.

We Bring It To Life. Anansesem writes it, illustrates it, and reads it aloud.

They Learn From It. Every story is tailored to your child's reading level and learning goals.

You See The Progress. Quick questions turn story time into measurable learning.

Subjects

Every story counts towards something

Stories are tagged to the subject they practise, so reading for pleasure and reading for school stop being separate activities.

Why it works

What your child gets out of it

  • Their idea, their story

A child types what they want to hear about. Minutes later it is a finished, illustrated story with them at the centre of it.

  • Written to their reading level

Every draft is scored for readability and rewritten if it misses the age band, so the words are ones they can actually read.

  • Questions that check understanding

Stories end with comprehension questions, so reading becomes something you can see the result of rather than guess at.

  • Progress you can read

Per-skill ability, time spent and what was finished, in a parent view that says what improved rather than only what was opened.

  • Rooted in African folklore

Anansesem begins with the storyteller it is named for. Children see themselves and their world in what they read.

  • Safe by construction

Generated work passes moderation before a child sees it, leaving the app needs a parental gate, and photos used to draw a character are deleted after use.

The app

Inside the app

  • Read or listen

Every story can be narrated, so a pre-reader and a confident reader can share the same book.

  • Watch it play out

Selected stories become short films animated from the story’s own artwork, rather than stock footage.

  • Keep going offline

Downloaded stories stay readable without a connection, which is the difference between a car journey and a complaint.

  • One account, every child

Each child gets their own profile, their own reading level and their own progress, under a single parent login.

Real screens from the app your child will actually use.

  • The app home screen, showing shelves titled "Five minutes or less" and "Brave adventures", each with illustrated story covers.

Shelves that fit the time you have

Five minutes before bed, or a longer adventure at the weekend.

  • The search screen, with a "Browse by mood" grid of coloured tiles: counting, coconuts, sharing, friends, market, family.

    Search by how it feels

Counting, sharing, drumming, festival. A child who cannot spell a title can still find a story.

  • The Ask Anansi screen, asking "Who do you want to talk to?" with character cards for Anansi, Kwaku, Yaa and Nana Adwoa.

    Someone to ask

Pick a character to chat with, ask questions, and make up stories together.

  • A child profile screen showing "Stories I made" with a story being written, and a "Keep going" row of part-finished stories.

    Their own shelf

The stories they made, and whatever they left half-finished, waiting where they left it.

Questions parents ask

What ages is it for?

Three bands, from early readers to tweens: Early Reader (4–7), Middle Grade (7–9) and Tween (9–12). The band sets the vocabulary, sentence length and question difficulty, not just the label on the profile.

Is it safe for my child?

Generated stories and illustrations pass moderation before a child can see them. Leaving the app is behind a parental gate. That covers any link out, including the privacy policy. If you use a photograph to draw a character, it is deleted once the character exists and is never served from the CDN.

What does it cost?

The library is free and unlimited: over 200 animated stories and books, the assessments, the leaderboard and the parent dashboard, with no card and no trial. The only thing counted is the AI creation tool, which makes ten brand-new stories per child per month. A paid Premium plan is coming soon.

Does my child need to be able to read?

No. Every story can be read aloud by the app, so a child who is not reading independently yet can still choose an idea and enjoy the result. Reading level rises with them.

What do you do with my child’s data?

We collect what is needed to show progress and nothing sold to anybody. The full policy is published and linked from inside the app as well as here.
